According to the World Health Organisation, Non -Communicable Diseases (NCDs) are responsible for over 33% of all deaths in Uganda. A significant contributor to these diseases is the consumption of sugar-laden products. The introduction of an SSB tax has proven effective in countries such as Mexico, where it led to a decrease in sugar consumption and a 12% reduction in SSB sales within just a year of implementation.
